Pasintjanuare (2001), mi ekkonis Esperanton kiam mi skribis eseon por klaso de Modeloj de Mensoj. Mi skribis unu frazon pri tio kaj poste mi meztagmangxis kun mia profesoro kaj li vidis miajn notojn pri mia parolo kaj diris, "Kial vi ne parolis pri Esperanto?" Do, mi plipensis pri tio kaj ekstudis Esperanton rete per la senpaga esperanta kurso, februare.

Auxguste mi iris al San Francisko por helpi volonte la oficejon de ELNA kaj havis tre bonan sperton. Septembre, mi iris al Novjorko por alia junulara kunveno, kaj oktobre mi venis al Okemo (usona esperantista kunveno en Vermonto). Malfruoktobre, mi vojagxis al Essen, Germanio por cxeesti la plej grandan ludkunvenon en la tuta mondo. Kiam mi estis tie, mi restis kun esperantisto (Heinz Muhsal).

Novembre, mi komencis la Esperantan Vikipedion (enciklopedio en Esperanto) kiu nun havas pli ol 400 artikoloj. Mi jxus organizis junularan esperantan renkontigxon en Filadelfio kaj havis alian bonan sperton kun 10 junaj esperantistoj de la nordorienta Usono.

Last January (2001), I heard about Esperanto when I was writing a paper for a class called Models of Minds. I wrote a sentence about it and later when I was eating lunch with my professor, he saw my notes about my speech and said, "Why didn't you speak more about Esperanto?" So, I thought more about it and started studying Esperanto through the Free Esperanto Course online in February 2001.

In August, I went to San Francisco to volunteer at the ELNA office and had a very good experience. In September, I went to New York City for another youth convention, and in October went to Okemo, VT for another convention. Last october, I went to Essen, Germany to attend the largest game convention in the world. When I was there I stayed with an Esperanto speaker (Heinz Muhsal).

In November, I founded the Esperanto Wikipedia (an encyclopedia in Esperanto) which now has over 400 articles . I just finished organizing a youth Esperanto convention in Philadelphia and had a good time with 10 other Esperanto speakers from the northeast United States.
